I was struggling to figure out how to become an effective affiliate marketer. I was buying course after course and chasing down others that had already been successful. There were so many rabbit holes that I was going down; it cost me a small fortune trying to find the one thing that tied everything together.
I found three parts to the solution to the problem I had encountered. The first is knowing What to do. The second is knowing How to do it. The third is acquiring the tools that work to do the How. There wasn't a definitive guide that walks you down the straight path to get there. No one said you would get Z if you did X with Y.
Instead, I only found wishy-washy guru talk that caused me to have more problems and buy more things.
I knew I had to give something away for free to build my list. But I didn't know how or what tool to execute that plan. I googled "email marketing course," and a website called Lurn.com (This site is no longer active at the time of this post) offered an email marketing blueprint course with a free application called Launchpad.
The course stated it would teach you the steps to email marketing, and the Launchpad program will do all the heavy lifting for you to craft your emails and build a relationship with your list.
I completed the 30 lessons or so and dove into the Launchpad. The application blew my mind away. I didn't believe creating a free report with a 20-email follow-up sequence capable of marketing offers to your list could be that easy.
I was addicted now. I needed to know everything about doing this and an easier way to develop my original content to feel more authentic.
The problem I ran into was the limitation of the landing pages' design and the type of content generated.
With all my searches about email marketing and landing page creation, I started seeing Facebook ads from Russell Brunson.
He was marketing this one-funnel-away challenge.
At the time, the "Challenge" thing was in on Facebook. Everyone was doing a challenge for something. It was white noise to me. But as I struggled with Launchpad, more and more targeted ads were shown to me, highlighting my problem and providing the solution.
I then remembered I had seen one of my Facebook friends post about this challenge with the big box and how excited she was to do this 30-day challenge.
Mind you, she disappeared a few weeks after she made her excitement post, and I didn't see another post about it. So I figured either it was another flop course or she flopped.
It turned out she flopped!
It wasn't until I saw an ad targeted at affiliate marketers that it grabbed my attention long enough to watch the intro video.
After watching it, like Fry from Futurama, I told Russell to "please take my money!"
Two weeks into the One Funnel Away Challenge, Russell began to teach how to create an offer. I was skeptical about how this part of the lesson would work because I didn't have a product.
Russell assured me that I didn't need a product. He was going to teach me how to create a product as well.
I let my guard down and trusted the process.
The "Greatest Showman" lesson showed me how to take a product in the current market and structure an offer around it to market it.
My mind melted.
The tools and resources shared to get the items for the offer blew me out of my seat. I didn't realize all of those resources existed that I could use to enhance the one thing I was looking to market to help others struggling as I had.
What a journey...
